Photoaging Reversal Protocol

A preventative and corrective regimen focusing on mitigating UV damage (the cause of 80% of visible aging) and upregulating collagen production via retinoids.

The Architecture

This protocol operates on two distinct timelines: daytime protection against environmental stressors (ROS, UV), and nighttime cellular communication for repair and turnover.

AM: Protection Phase

  1. 1 Water Rinse (Optional)

Unless extremely oily, skip morning cleanser to preserve the acid mantle.

  2. 2 Antioxidant Serum

Apply 10-20% L-Ascorbic Acid to dry skin. Wait 5 minutes for absorption. This neutralizes free radicals that penetrate your SPF.

  3. 3 Broad Spectrum SPF 30+

The most important step. Apply 1/4 teaspoon (2mg/cm²) to the face and neck. Skip moisturizer if your SPF is adequately hydrating.

PM: Correction Phase

  1. 1 Double Cleanse

Use an oil-based cleanser or micellar water to break down water-resistant SPF, followed by a gentle pH 5.5 water-based cleanser.

  2. 2 Retinoid Application

Apply a pea-sized amount of Tretinoin or Retinol to completely dry skin (wet skin increases penetration and irritation). Start 2-3x a week.

  3. 3 Barrier Cream

Apply a ceramide-rich moisturizer to prevent Trans Epidermal Water Loss (TEWL) during the night.

Note: Always consult a dermatologist before beginning prescription retinoids.
